Sixteen states will convene on September 12-14 in Atlanta, GA to celebrate and share effective and sustainable obesity prevention and reduction practices in their regions and energize grass roots efforts in each state. In 2009, the Southern Obesity Summit reached a new high when the participants jointly decided that the Summit should be a forum for developing a southern strategy on obesity. This strategy will launch at the 2010 Summit.

Summing up the success of the Inaugural 2007 Summit, Dr. Lavizzo-Mourey, President and CEO of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, said, "In 2013, when we have reversed the trend in childhood obesity, history will record that the effort began here in Little Rock, today with this Summit on Obesity attended by 14 southern states".

Together we will continue efforts to reverse this trend as more than 300 health policy experts, practitioners, and other stakeholders meet in Atlanta. This is not only a unique opportunity for you to have an audience with 16 plus southern state teams dedicated to combating obesity and demonstrate your products and your work; but it will also allow you to be a part of this historical effort.
